PANEL #2 – What it Takes to be an Agent or Manager in the Industry Today
(Sunday, December 15th @10am)
BELLE ZWERDLING
Belle Zwerdling has been a talent agent for more than thirty-five years, representing actors working in film, television, and theater. As a co-owner of the boutique Progressive Artists Agency, she is responsible for negotiating client’s deals, maintaining their status, selecting their projects, and working with other management team members to create successful career paths. Her firm is highly selective – both of the clients that they represent and the projects that they are involved with.
Having started in the business as an actress herself, Ms. Zwerdling’s focus is on maintaining the integrity of the creative process with her clients, who she views as her partners. Her efforts have resulted in clients becoming internationally-recognized stars, including Jeremy Renner, Katey Sagal, Mickey Rourke and Rene Russo. Her agency has also nurtured many clients as they have expanded their creative efforts beyond acting to writing, producing, and directing.
Belle Zwerdling is available to lecture on various topics related to the talent agent business, client/agent relations, and the creative process. She has expertise in areas ranging from securing and working with an agent to removing blocks to and dealing with success.
Ms Zwerdling recognized the need to impart her wisdom on these issues based on her experience of working with young actors whose ideas about success do not incorporate the realities and practicalities of the industry. Her goal is to teach artists the business side of the arts as a complement to their craft, not an obstacle.
In August of 2006 Ms. Zwerdling received her Masters degree from the University of Santa Monica in Spiritual Psychology. She returned in 2008 and completed her emphasis on her masters in consciousness, health and healing.
